MAT

Highlights of SREEDHAR CCE's training programme for MAT Course:

MAT stands for Management Aptitude Test. It is conducted by Centre for Management Services (CMS) which is the specialized division of AIMA undertaking testing and other management services. The testing services have been in operation since 1988 under the trademark - All India Management Aptitude Testing Services (AIMATS) facilitating academia, industry and government to screen and select candidates for higher studies, recruitment, promotion etc. Hundreds of organizations and lakhs of candidates have availed these services. AIMATS has the unique distinction of being the first to be awarded with ISO 9001: 2000 Certification for the range of services under its scope.

Eligibility:
Graduate in any discipline from a recognized university. Final year degree course students can also apply.

Who Should Take MAT?
MAT scores are considered by a wide range of B-schools including some good B-schools. While some of the B-Schools using MAT scores for admission also accept CAT scores, MAT is a relatively easier exam than CAT. The competition levels in MAT may also be lower than those in CAT.

What are the good colleges under MAT?
A large number of colleges (around 400 colleges) base their admission through MAT. However, students are advised to check the credentials of the institutes before they apply to any institute. While a few good B-Schools under MAT are listed below, students are advised to take expert guidance in the matter of selecting / applying to B-Schools that take MAT.
  • Amity, Noida
  • NDIM, Delhi
  • Alliance, Bangalore
  • BIMT (Retail, Insurance), Trichy
  • IILM, Delhi
  • NILM, Delhi
  • M S Ramaiah , Bangalore
  • Siva Sivani, Hyderabad
  • SCMS, Cochin
  • Christ College, Bangalore
  • XISS Ranchi
  • Alliance Business Academy
  • BIMTECH, Noida (some programs only)
  • IPE-Hyderabad (some programs only)
Other than these, there are a few other colleges in each region which would have a good placement track record.

So why does one require training for MAT?
MAT is relatively an easier exam than CAT but unprepared students would find that MAT is also a tough nut to crack. AIMA has expressed a desire to standardize the exam and increase the level of difficulty of the exam.
Secondly given the increase in the number of students taking MAT, the level of competition for the best schools accepting MAT score has gone high.
Thirdly, it is not enough to prepare for Maths or Logic. You also need to know the exam pattern, find out where you stand vis-à-vis other students across India and get exam practice.
Lastly, doing well in MAT is only half the story. You would need the guidance to select the right B schools to apply to and you would need intensive preparation for GD and Interviews.
